Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange info between a web server and a client. Given that the info exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a third party cannot intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of managing a website hosting account. The commands that may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, in particular, the possibilities are limited as you simply won't have root access to the hosting server, so you could just create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, and so on. They are all actions which are performed in the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or just a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you don't employ a UNIX-like Operating System, there are tons of apps for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.
SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
When you have a cloud hosting account with us and you'd like to deal with your content remotely using SSH, you may receive SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package deal doesn't come with this feature as standard, you may add it with a few mouse clicks via the Upgrades menu. Within the SSH section of the CP, you will see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You can also choose what password you want to use, as it does not have to be the same as the one for your account. We have prepared a lot of Help articles where you could find all the commands that you'll be able to use with a shared hosting package, as well as examples of how they are used. Also, if SSH access is allowed for your account, you shall be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection by using a standard client like FileZilla, for example.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
You shall be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server account using SSH regardless of which package you choose when you sign up. With some plans, the feature is included as standard, while with others, it could be included as an extra upgrade for as long as you need it. You can find the necessary login details inside the Hepsia Control Panel, supplied with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You may choose the password that you'll use and if you want to, you may change it all the time with a few mouse clicks for even better security. You'll be able to see all the commands that you may use in advance, because we have listed all of them alongside examples of how they are used to accomplish a particular task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is activated, you shall be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
When you get a new VPS server from us, it will feature full root access and you will be able to connect to the server and to control everything through an SSH console. The function is included by default with all packages, so you won't need to activate or upgrade anything. Your hosting server shall be set up immediately after you purchase it and the minute you get the Welcome email with the login info, you may connect through the server’s main IP address and start working. Given that the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts on the physical machine, there won't be any restrictions in terms of the commands that you can use. You'll have full root access, so that you may set up and run any application that can work on a Linux web server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software operating on it.
